Bio
He was born in the city of Rosario, Santa Fé.
Shocron was considered a revelation artist from 2004 in the most important graphic media in the country. Her debut album “La voz que te”, published by the Blue Art Records label, had excellent reviews in national and international publications.
The Paula Shocron Trio, currently made up of Juan Bayón on double bass and Bruno Varela on drums, has had intense activity since its formation in 2007, and includes concerts at multiple festivals in Argentina and abroad. The musicians Jerónimo Carmona, Eloy Michelini, Pablo Díaz , Carto Brandán, Ezequiel Dutil and Luciano Ruggieri have also been members of the Trio, whether on recordings or on tours and concerts .
Among his most important record works are "Tribute" (2009, Sony Music) dedicated to pianist and composer Andrew Hill, "El Enigma" (2010, Aqcua Records - "Best Jazz Album of the Year" for Rolling Stone magazine) together to saxophonist Pablo Puntoriero, “Gran Ensamble” (Aqcua Records, 2011), and four albums released by the Argentine label Rivorecords: “Our Delight” (2011), “Warm Valley” (2012), co-led with trumpeter Mariano Loiácono , "Serenade in Blue" (2012) and "See See Rider" (2013) on solo piano.
During 2012 and 2013, Paula Shocron dedicated herself to her “New Ensemble” project, which included dancers and musicians, including: Pablo Puntoriero, Ingrid Feniger, Enrique Norris, Francisco Salgado, Pablo Moser, Damien Poots , Fernando Toyos, Alfonso Santini, Damian Allegretti, Pablo Díaz and Laura Monge. This project originated from the experiences and discoveries developed during the trials and performances of the Grand Ensemble, and today it is considered part of the gestation of the project that it is currently carrying out: IMUDA.
Since 2006 he has been a full professor in the Jazz career at the Manuel de Falla Conservatory of Music. He has also participated in the project "Artistic Teaching Strengthening Path in the Music Area NEA and NOA", carried out by the Ministry of Education in the city of Tucumán in 2007, where he worked with Juan Pablo Arredondo on the topic "Improvised Languages "
In 2012 he has taught Jazz Ensemble workshops at the Music School of the National University of Rosario. The workshops have been repeated more informally in different cities of the country.
I'm glad these four musicians took the opportunity to play and record together. They seem to be listening very carefully to each other. A seamless performance of individuals, yes indeed. freejazzy
